Sardinia Grand Slam – Day 3

After more than 5 hours of waiting, the third day of competition of Sardinia Grand Slam could give the emotions of a race to the public present at the Poetto to watch the final stage of the KiteFoil World Series that tomorrow will assign the titles of World Champion 2018.

The wind allowed a very short window at 17.00 before collapsing again, but it was enough to bring home the daily race. However, the difficulties were not lacking, with 5 knots of wind on shore that complicated the exit of the athletes towards the race field.

The race, which took place with an average between 7 and 8 knots, has been won by the British Guy Bridge. Behind him the Germans Jannis Maus and Florian Gruber. The eternal battle between Maxime Nocher and Nico Parlier has instead moved just below the podium and saw the Monegasque cross the finish line as fourth followed by the French. The partial classification now sees the two ones with 8 points equally, at the top of the Sardinia Grand Slam ranking. Third Florian Gruber.

Undisputed leader of the women’s classification of the third stage of the KiteFoil World Series is Daniela Moroz who once again confirmed her class and skills by imposing herself on the adversaries. Immediately after her we have, on the one hand the consolidation of the second position of Steph Bridge, on the other the great result of the young Polish athlete Nina Arcisz who managed to get back on the top and conquer the third position in the provisional classification.

That of tomorrow will therefore be a heart-pounding day. Nothing is taken for granted and everything can still happen. What’s more, to make this final day even more prestigious is going to be the presence of Sofia Tomasoni, gold in kiteboarding (TT: R discipline) at the recent Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. Sofia is going to arrive at the Poetto di Cagliari directly from Argentina with the medal around her neck and will reward, at the end of the day, the 2018 World Champions of KiteFoil.

The Sardinia Grand Slam is organized by Good Looking Entertainment with the collaboration of the Yacht Club Cagliari, which deals with technical sports coordination, under the auspices of the IKA (International Kiteboarding Association), and with the contribution of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia with the Department of Tourism and the City of Cagliari with the Department of Sports.
